Acquired hyperlipidemia (secondary dyslipoproteinemia) results from underlying disorders
that lead to alterations in plasma lipid and lipoprotein metabolism. Secondary
dyslipoproteinemias may mimic primary forms of hyperlipidemia and can have similar
consequences. They may result in increased predisposition to premature atherosclerosis or,
